IMACC™ – The Immediate Airway Care Course
Delivered by specialist paramedics and doctors with experience in prehospital critical care, IMACC™ is a practical course designed to provide the learner with the requisite skills and knowledge to provide safe and effective immediate airway care in the emergency environment.





Course overview
Aim
The aim of IMACC™ is to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely provide effective airway care in the emergency environment, whether that be prehospital, in the emergency department, or in unfamiliar settings such as a hospital ward or GP practice.
Entry criteria
IMACC™ is aimed at clinicians fulfilling levels 3–5 on the Skills for Health Career Framework. Examples include:

Health Care Assistant
-
FY1/2 Doctor
Those fulfilling levels 6+ are also welcome to attend.
Course content

Anatomy and physiology of the airway

Airway assessment
-
Patient positioning
-
Airway clearance
-
Stepwise airway care and device selection

Drug-free tracheal intubation
-
Tracheostomy and laryngectomy care

Practical skills stations and simulation
To allow for consolidation of learning, content will be delivered using a combination of lectures and practical sessions.

One day (eight hours)
Certification / accreditation / endorsement
Certified by PREMED. CPD certificate upon completion of the course.
